Résumé:

The A. supposes that the rich merchant brothers, Dino and Jacopo Ripondi of Lucca, promoted the popularisation of the Volto Santo of Lucca in Paris with the influence they could exert on Philip the Bold, duke of Burgundy: when Jean Gelain prepared the French translation of the Legenda aurea for the duke with the addition of French national saints, also the legend of the Volto Santo was added, perhaps at the request of the Ripondi brothers.
